Home Sweet Classroom

Room 207. Classroom #7. My first year of teaching I set up two classrooms (I was surplused). Year 5 & 6, I actually got to stay in the same classroom, which had never happened before! :) In the middle of July, Russell and I (mostly Russell) moved all of my stuff from my almost Classroom #7 to my actual Classroom #7 (see previous post) which I finally feel like has come together pretty nicely (for the most part)!

Every time I move rooms/schools, I try to be pretty organized with the way I pack up! I’m pretty good about getting rid of things which helps (except books—I can’t get rid of books), but I still end up with more miscellaneous boxes and loose items than I know what to do with!

Mostly Before/During

I pieced together 8 pieces of polka dot fabric to cover this amazingly large bulletin board. Below is what was left! I was pretty proud.

When it comes to classroom set up, I’m very intentional on making sure that it’s student centered and conducive for learning—which translates in to rearranging every arrangement I come up with until it works! My goal every year is simply for it to be homey and functional. This is my fourth year as the Busy Bees in a mostly yellow, black and white color scheme. I know a lot of people who do themes, but choosing a few colors works better for me. 💛🐝🖤

DuringThis sweet husband of mine came straight off of shift  to my school to build me a bookshelf. ❤️🚒 So, naturally I creeped this picture of him when he was leaving!

After a few weeks, I finally have most things labeled and in their new homes. My STEM bin corner is still a work in progress and all bulletin boards will be filled with anchor charts. :)

I have everything Block 2 needs on the left and everything Block 3 needs on the right to help us stay organized. I planned on buying sterilite 3 drawer containers for each table group, but decided to use what I already had to make it work! I plan on adding permanent labels to their materials soon. It’s on my never ending to-do list with all the other things! My homeroom class has a separate spot for everything they need to turn in or take home. All supplies students may need are on the left and science materials are on the top and right. I use this mini sterilite container to organize my light box letters (A-L top, M-Z Middle, Numbers, symbols bottom).

I’m sure I’ll change some things, but here she is. 💛
